BildGroup goes electric with Fuso eCanter tipper truck, proudly supplied Daimler Trucks Somerton and salesperson, Mitchell Smith.
The e918 tipper model has been added to the BildGroup fleet as part of the company’s sustainability program that focusses on transitioning to a low carbon future.
It is a fully-electric model, producing zero exhaust emissions and operating near-silently.
The first generation eCanter was the first OEM (factory-built) series-production electric truck available in Australia. The new generation model brings a raft of improvements included increased range, a class-leading eAxle for efficiency and a full-suite of active safety features.
BildGroup Environmental and Sustainability Manager, Jake Chitty, says that introducing the electric eCanter is a signal of intent regarding its sustainability pathway.
“We’re not waiting for the industry to change — we’re helping lead that change. This is the first of many steps toward modernising our fleet, reducing emissions, and aligning our business with the expectations of our clients and our people,” he says.
“From a sustainability standpoint, the introduction of the Fuso eCanter tipper is more than just adding a new truck to our fleet — it represents a meaningful shift in how BildGroup approaches environmental responsibility within our operations,” Mr Chitty concludes.
The fact that the eCanter emits zero exhaust emissions and operates near silently will deliver key benefits, Mr Chitty says.
“For our crews, this means safer, and more comfortable work environments. For our clients, it means projects that align with modern sustainability expectations. And for our business, it’s another step in future proofing our operations,” he says.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, applauded BildGroup for its environmental initiative.

Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Vice President Sales, Marketing and Operations, Andrew Assimo, says the advanced eCanter is the perfect truck for this job.
“The eCanter is a proven workhorse that gets the job done day in day out, and importantly, is equipped with the most advanced safety features,” he says.
“We know BildGroup will just love it,” Mr Assimo adds.
The Fuso eCanter was first introduced into Australia in 2020. A new generation model has introduced a raft of new technology including the eAxle, which does away with a traditional driveshaft. Instead, the electric motor is integrated into the drive axle reducing weight and boosting efficiency.

The New Freightliner Cascadia looking INCREDIBLE! This truck was built up to give to TOLL to trial as Cascadia is Freightliners new addition to their fleet offering. We worked closely with TOLL technical advisors and their technical drafting team during the build-up period, having multiple meeting on site to ensure all technical and OH&S requires were met. *VERY AWESOME TRUCK ALERT* This truck was built up to give to Linfox to trial as Cascadia is Freightliner's new addition to their fleet offering. The team at Daimler Trucks Somerton worked closely with Linfox technical advisors during the build-up period, having multiple meeting on site to ensure all technical requires were met as Linfox have very specific and stringent requirement for their fleet revolving mainly around OH&S for their drivers. Somerton in conjunction with Freightliner Field Service Managers also completed around 1,000 km of road testing to ensure all truck errors and glitches were picked up and addressed before handover in July.
